2012 Geography Bee Champion

Lafayette High School hosted the annual Red Lake Falls school district geography bee on January 13, 2012.   Participation in this year’s bee was 8^th Grade – April Mata, Steph Doyle . 7^th Grade – Ben Schirrick, Brandon Kolstoe. 6^th Grade – Jenessa Kelley, Brady Bulger. 5^th Grade – Ben Cardinal, Jacob Peterson. 4^th Grade – Shawna Larson, Kylar Violette.

The geography bee consists of two rounds, the championship round and the final round.  During the championship round students are asked questions individually and have 15 second to answer.  Once a student misses two questions they are out of the bee.  The final round begins when two students are remaining.  In this round both students are asked the same question at the same time, their answers are written down.  The participants are asked three questions and whoever answers the most questions correctly wins the geography bee.

This year the Red Lake Falls Schools geography bee was won by Ben Schirrick.  Bee organizer Steve Philipp commented “All contestants did a great job today.  It’s quite an honor to even make it to the final round. Congratulations to our winner, Ben Schirrick”.
