Meet
Joel S. Young,
he is the Superintendent of Independent School District
#630. He graduated from North Dakota State University with
a B.A. in Business Economics; Concordia College with a
secondary teaching credential in Social Studies and the
Minnesota State University Moorhead with a Masters Degree in
Education Administration. When exploring options to better
achieve his professional goals, working for the Red Lake
Falls School District was an opportunity he couldn’t pass
up. Mr. Young said that he had worked at schools in the
region and had always heard good things about the Red Lake
Falls School district. In 2006 he took the position as 7-12
Principal and in 2007 became the Superintendent of the Red
Lake Falls School District. He said that “I have never
doubted my decision to come to the Red Lake Falls School
District”. Mr. Young has been a coach, activities director,
principal, and superintendent during his time in education.
Mr. Young has two daughters, two step sons and one step
daughter. He also has four grandchildren. Mr. Young’s wife
is a Human resources director. His hobbies are walking,
golfing, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren
and family.
When asked what some of your favorite things are, Mr.
Young said “I like to see students succeed, I like to spend
time at the lake when possible, I enjoy being with my
grandchildren, and I enjoy good music.
